Character education plays a key role in building a whole child.
Courtesy is the act of being kind, respectful, and considerate of others.
The home is the first place a child learns etiquette, good morals, and how to interact with people. Parents are described as the first teachers to their children. If parents are not well-refined, good values or normal practices can't be passed on to their children.
The society is the endpoint where children interact and exchange ideas. It would be very difficult for a well-groomed child to pick up wrong values through socialisation.
Humans are "social beings" through that virtue, we socialise with one another, we brainstorm salient ideas for nation building and development.
Good morals, and character education should be of utmost priority in the education curriculum from primary to tertiary level. Africa is so unique with dynamism when it comes to culture, values, and norms. Respect for cultural diversity is also very important. People should be given a chance to express their values, beliefs, and ideas.
Teaching children good social behaviour requires patience, consistency, and a positive role model. Although there is moral decadence in the 21st century, we believe the world would be a better place as we join hands together to groom our children to be respectful, civil, and competent citizens.
