Do You Really Know the Eagle?
Once upon a time, in the heart of a dense forest surrounded by mountains, there lived a young boy named Tobi. Tobi loved to explore nature and often sat by the riverbank, gazing at the sky. One day, he noticed a magnificent bird soaring high above the clouds. Its wings stretched wide, and it glided gracefully through the air without flapping much. Tobi’s grandfather, Papa Jide, saw his amazement and said, “That’s the eagle, the king of the skies. Do you really know about the eagle?”
Curious, Tobi shook his head. “No, Papa Jide, but I want to know more!” So, Papa Jide smiled and began telling Tobi about the eagle, drawing lessons from its life that anyone, especially children, could learn from.
Lesson 1: Fly High and See Far
“The eagle is known for flying higher than any other bird. It has incredible vision and can see prey from miles away. The lesson here, Tobi, is to aim high in life and keep your goals in sight. No matter what challenges you face, don’t settle for less. Always dream big and focus on your goals.”
Lesson 2: Be Brave and Face Challenges
“When a storm comes, most birds hide in their nests, but not the eagle. The eagle spreads its wings and flies directly into the storm. It uses the strong winds to rise higher. This teaches us to be brave when life gets tough. Instead of running away, face your problems head-on and grow stronger.”
Lesson 3: Adapt and Renew
“The eagle’s lifespan is long, but to live a full life, it must make a tough choice at around 40 years old. Its beak and talons become weak, and it can no longer hunt. The eagle retreats to a mountain and goes through a painful process of breaking its old beak, pulling out its talons, and waiting for new ones to grow. This renewal process allows the eagle to live another 30 years. This teaches us that change, though painful, can lead to growth and new beginnings.”
Lesson 4: Pick Your Friends Wisely
“The eagle doesn’t fly with sparrows or crows. It flies with other eagles. Surround yourself with people who lift you higher and share your vision for greatness. Remember, the company you keep influences your journey in life.”
Lesson 5: Learn to Rest
“An eagle knows when to rest. After a long flight or a hunt, it takes time to perch and recover its strength. This teaches us that it’s okay to pause, take breaks, and recharge. Resting helps us become stronger and more focused.”
Tobi listened intently, wide-eyed with wonder. “Wow, Papa Jide! I never knew the eagle was so special. I want to be like an eagle in my life!”
Papa Jide chuckled and patted Tobi on the back. “Good! Remember, Tobi, the lessons of the eagle will help you soar to great heights if you follow them.”
From that day on, Tobi began sharing the lessons of the eagle with his friends, and they all promised to live like eagles—brave, focused, and strong.
